Candle Care Instructions
At North Star Soapworks, we want you to enjoy the full experience of your candles safely and effectively. Proper candle care not only enhances the longevity of your candle but also ensures a clean, even burn. Follow these tips to get the most out of your candles:
Before You Light Your Candle
- Trim the Wick: Always trim your wick to 1/4 inch before each burn to prevent soot, uneven burning, and excessive flickering.
- Place Your Candle on a Stable Surface: Use a heat-resistant surface away from flammable items, drafts, and out of reach of children or pets.
While Your Candle is Burning
- Let the Wax Pool Form: Allow the wax to melt across the entire surface during the first burn to prevent tunneling. This typically takes 2-4 hours.
- Don’t Burn for Too Long: Avoid burning your candle for more than 4 hours at a time to prevent overheating.
- Never Leave a Candle Unattended: Always keep an eye on your lit candle and extinguish it when leaving the room.
After Extinguishing Your Candle
- Use a Snuffer: Extinguish the flame with a snuffer to minimize smoke and avoid splattering hot wax.
- Keep the Wick Centered: Adjust the wick to stay centered while the wax is still soft.
- Store Safely: Store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve its fragrance and appearance.
Additional Tips
- Discontinue use when 1/2 inch of wax remains to prevent overheating the container.
- Clean the container gently after use if you plan to reuse or recycle it.
Thank you for choosing North Star Soapworks! By following these care tips, you’ll enjoy the beauty, fragrance, and ambiance of your candles to the fullest.
